Katharina Broeckelmann - inhale, exhale

Inside this assignment I decided to address the topic of environmental awareness. In modern urban landscapes people often seem disconnected and alienated from nature, ignoring the fact that mankind's survival is only granted with an intact nature around us. With Inhale/ Exhale I wanted to bring attention to the interdependency between population and vegetation - if there are no trees, there will be no oxygen for us to breathe. I designed the type in order to represent fluent and organic shapes, almost breath-like, which would also work for stenciling. Strategically I placed it all around the city near plants and trees. In the future I am hoping to be able to use Water-jet technology to cut out my type out of hundreds of leaf at the same time.
